Churston Builders – The Torbay and South Hams Builder. Making an entrance in Churston Ferrers.

An entrance facelift was in order for this property in the pretty village of Churston Ferrers between Brixham and Paignton.

Overgrown hedges and borders were cleared out to make way for smart new concrete-posted fencing marking the boundaries of this bungalow property. To compliment this the original driveway piers were also rebuilt with stately looking fluted stonework caps and welcoming  downlighters.

Thinning back the property’s boundaries made for lots of additional space in the driveway but also a really varied set of surfaces to prepare for the Castacrete aged effect charcoal block pavers that had been specified for the main driveway surface. Clearing the subsurface was a big job followed swiftly by a layer of granular sub-base which was levelled and compacted ready for the bedding layer of coarse sand. Before laying the main surface started the edge restraints were laid to provide a boundary. To the side of the driveway we also created a gravelled space supported by strong and durable gravel paving grid.

The second part of this project was to rebuild the entrance porch with a traditional front door to replace the conservatory style entrance porch. This element of the project was completed after the driveway was finished.

The finished effect has created an up-to-date entrance that when lit is a pleasure to arrive home to. The surface is well drained and the entire area now requires far less maintenance.
