Churston Builders, the Torbay and South Hams Builder, completed this refurbishment project which included two extensions during Autumn 2019.
This property in Winner Hill Road, Paignton, stands on a high elevation with far-reaching views. To make the most of the location, glazing and site lines featuring glass balustrades were an important feature for this project.
The house has undergone a general refurbishment, new roof, new glazing, a two-storey extension and an extension in the space formerly occupied by a block built garage. The visual highlight of the property is the attractive sage green uPVC work which contrasts appealingly with the natural red clay roof tiles.
Preparation of the site involved removal of the existing garage structure and entrance porch. work then commenced on the blockwork to create the dual aspect part-pitched and part flat roofed extension that would accommodate a new large kitchen and entrance vestibule for the property. Work also commenced on the blockwork for the second two-storey extension where the original entrance was. Steel work was installed and with the blockwork done the roofing timbers went on. This part of the extension was then made watertight so first fixes could be completed internally and the first new red clay tiles completed as well as the GRP flat roof. This extension also feature dual aspect windows to the rear, Velux windows in the pitch section plus an Atlas Roof Lantern over the entrance porch to maximise internal light. Once the second storey had reached height the new roof section was integrated and work commenced on the full roof replacement. The entire roof and its various gables were refurbished with sage uPVC fascias, white cladding on gable sides, waterproof membrane, heavy duty valleys, mechanical ridge fixings and finished to style with galvanised hip irons. The whole roof is visually stunning!
With all structures fully weathertight, interior work on insulation, boarding and plastering could start and the integration of the the new and existing structures was completed. Second fix plumbing, electrics and carpentry were completed and the kitchen fitted. The final tasks were the driveway and access at either side of the property. The driveway was levelled and finished with grey and contrast black rumbled pavers.
