Churston Builders – The Torbay and South Hams Builder. House and Grounds Refurbishment, Paignton
Churston Builders, the Torbay and South Hams Builder, completed this full property refurbishment in Whiterock, Paignton during 2018.
This property was in need of full refurbishment to be made ready for the highly competitive rental market. The kitchen and bathrooms were replaced and a general refit of all the other rooms was undertaken. The terraced rear garden and driveway was also given a total makeover.
After the initial strip out the downstairs WC was relocated to create a large walkthrough kitchen and dining area that opened straight out onto the extensive patio and terraced garden. The kitchen was fitted with neutral high gloss units, blockwood worktops and light grey tiling to work with the contemporary theme throughout the property. In the lounge the chimney breast was clad with split face slate feature tiling.
Throughout the property all the walls were reskimmed and skirting, door frames and doors were replace. To complete the general makeover light fitting and electric outlets were all replaced. Engineered wood flooring was laid throughout the ground floor whilst deep pile carpet was used throughout the first floor accommodation.
The two bathrooms were fitted with contemporary suites and large grey tiles were complimented by mosaic tiling within the useful shower shelves.
The extensive garden and patio area presented many problems! To the rear of the garden a large deck was constructed. As the garden is south facing it could be used all day so it was important to make the most out of the space. some of the existing garden walling and steps were utilised as a base for neat new curved rendered walls topped with flags to match the patio. The existing BBQ structure was utilised and updated with exterior power points for entertainment and providing power for a jacuzzi! check out the pictures below to see how we solved all the gardens challenges.
The driveway was reconstructed to allow parking for several cars. Retaining walls were built at either boundary with brick piers at the pavement end and the old brick surface removed. The area was levelled after some stubborn tree roots had been removed and a new block paved scheme laid across the entire area. The exterior of the house was decorated in a modern light grey that worked in harmony with the grey and charcoal block finish of the driveway. The last job was to complete the drop kerb across the new width driveway.
Churston Builders are approved by the local authority to carry out kerb modifications to residential properties (and far most cost effective than getting the councils contractor to do it! Just call 07782 413671/01803 906513 for a quote).
